Aviation is an exciting and rewarding hobby that anyone can learn! The experienced instructors at Skyline Aviation Academy will help you build the skills and experience needed to be a safe and competent aviator. Our team will walk you through all the required steps to obtain an FAA Private Pilot Certificate (PPL).
Step 1
Schedule a Discovery Flight!
A Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) will give you a 30-minute lesson on basic aerodynamics and aircraft operation. Then, you fly the aircraft together for 1 hour in the skies of beautiful South Florida, getting a feel for the controls and your first taste of being a professional aviator!
Step 2
Apply for an FAA Third-Class Medical Certificate and a Student Pilot Certificate
You’ll need both of these things prior to your first solo flight. We’ll help you to schedule an appointment with an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) and complete your application for your Student Pilot Certificate!
Step 3
Begin your Flight Training!
Schedule lessons at times that are best for you, and you will be on your way to getting your Private Pilot Certificate. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight experience and proficiency in certain skills.
Step 4
Pass the Private Pilot Knowledge Test
During your private pilot flight training, you will need to take and pass the computer-based FAA private pilot knowledge test. To be eligible for the test, you must receive an endorsement from your flight instructor.
Step 5
Pass the Private Pilot Practical Exam
Your “Checkride” will be with an FAA-Designated Practical Examiner (DPE) and consists of an oral portion and a flight portion. Once completed, you will officially be a Private Pilot! The SAA team will make sure you are overprepared for this important milestone!
